So now we can look all high and mighty upon ourselves for taking the high road while Republicans gerrymander everything and enact the Diarrhea Forever Act

I simply don’t give a shit what they do in Texas, Missouri, California. It’s not Virginia and being a Virginia. We have an independent redistricting committee for a fucking reason. “there’s no such thing as “good gerrymandering.”

Yeah, I’ve been struggling w/this for the past few days. On one hand, this is an extreme gerrymander that could introduce bad consequences for my state (re: GOP backlash leads to read wave in 2027/29)

On another end, it is absolutely a reasonable stance to want to counteract what other states are doing when their actions affect a federal legislative body. The good ending is a national ban on gerrymandering

I’ll probably end up not voting on this. I truly don’t know which way to go on this

You know the democrats have tried to pass federal anti-gerrymandering bills multiple times? It’s always blocked by republicans, because they gerrymander more. If only the republicans gerrymander (and the Supreme Court is looking to soon eliminate all the south’s black districts), we will never be able to ban it, and probably will lose our democracy in the process.

If you’re this torn up about it you can sit it out. You obviously know what I want you to vote for, but I’ve seen your posts about this for weeks. It might be best to just extricate yourself from the situation and any guilt from what is or isn’t passed and the consequences.

That it, I assume the previous posts stressing about Republican backlash are from you.

I was initially excited for 10-1 too lol. Now idk. Hopefully Northern VA drops the hammer as usual

I’m sick and tired of the fear mongering. Gerrymandering is wrong no matter who does it. I’ll vote against any measure that dilutes the power of voters regardless of party affiliation. So I say again… fuck gerrymandering.
