ā€œNobody’s talking about thatā€ and it’s just someone admitting they don’t read the news

Idk where #1 comment is mighta got deleted. I don’t really love what Israel is doing but what they are doing pales in comparison to other problems with much larger death tolls around the globe.

to play devils advocate a bit i think OP means no one’s talking about it on social media or in real life. also yeah its in the news but you kind of have to look for it to see it

Very clearly, OP is insinuating no one cares about Christian persecution & they only care about Muslims dying. That’s OP’s dog whistle. It’s bullshit—no major government force or propaganda campaign is preventing people from seeing what’s happening in Sudan.

no. people often speak on Sudan to reference Christian persecution as opposed to Gaza in which Muslims are being killed. it’s almost never about race or anti-blackness which is why its a right wing dog whistle to reinforce the narrative that Christians are victims & must work to evangelize and fight back against this evil secular world that hates them

For a long while, what happened in Gaza was not common knowledge because these genocides never are. it took a lot of community organization to make Gaza a main stage issue for the election in 2024 and not just a sidebar about ā€œthe middle eastā€ The same efforts need to take place to make Sudan more popular. But the idea that Sudan is worse than Gaza and being hidden is a common Christian nationalist talking point.

That’s fine—it’s a tragedy when innocents die. that’s not the issue. the issue is the reasons it doesn’t get attention are not because people care less about Christians than Muslims. and that is the dog whistle of these posts. that’s why it’s not just a campaign about sudan… it’s about admonishing people for caring more about Gaza when it’s ā€œless badā€

actually calling the israel palestine conflict what it was—a genocide—was not normalized for a long time. it’s still not agreed upon. BECAUSE actual reporting on what was happening in Gaza was extremely hard to come by. to help that reporting reach the average American & make the average American make that a key determinate in how they voted in 2024 was MONUMENTAL. and took incredible amounts of effort.

and I’m talking about the average American voter’s sympathies & voting considerations. not the UN. of course, there is lots of news reporting on the israel-palestine issue it’s been happening since Israel came to be. it’s been a source of conflict for fucking ever. that didn’t mean Americans voted for a third party because they liked the 2 state solution or whatever the fuck. PALESTINIAN GENOCIDE is a mainstream, hot button issue because people worked INCREDIBLY hard to show actual conditions

it would be very easy for people to have dismissed what’s happening now as just another conflict between Hamas and Israel. and not care. but people in Gaza, incredibly brave reporters, have made it possible for people to get actual information on the genocide, label at as a genocide, and help Americans across the ocean to care through their hard work. it’s just not the same as a 2014 UN resolution on whatever version of the two state solution

well no shit it’s high this year that is my entire point. this year, people are talking about palestine because people worked very hard to make palestine a key issue that people care about.
