I feel that the persecution of the French language in Louisiana (and French creole) is a good example of how the “speak English” types often arent driven by a desire to have immigrants become part of this country, they are driven by a desire for English supremacy. Because the Francophones were in Louisiana since before it was American. And yet they were still systemically persecuted
