So I’m rooming with ppl and a person said they were a trans women. I look at their TikTok and they look like a man. They still have their short hair, facial hair, dress masc, but then I realize maybe they are masc? But they don’t pass. Educate me plz

Could be they aren’t socially presenting as feminine yet. This is often referred to as “boymoding”

I had no idea. That makes sense now. I just read it’s so they don’t get judged while transitioning or something?

It can depend on the situation. Often times it’s a thing where they don’t want to try presenting as a woman before they look enough like one (hormones can take a while to work good enough). Or they could not be out to everybody yet. Or they could not feel confident enough yet. Or it could be for some other reason than boymoding but I think that sounds most plausible.
