It’s amusing to me that conservative Christians come up with these “Christian” justifications for being anti-immigrant meanwhile the Pope has been actively speaking out against Trump’s immigration policies and the Bible says to welcome foreigners

Like the Christian doctrine could not be more cut and dry on this issue but conservatives just plug their ears and continue to make shit up to justify why forcefully separating families and imprisoning desperate people indiscriminately is the good Christian thing to do

No but what about the time Jesus said “those criminals should have come in legally, lock them and their children up in alligator Alcatraz”

Uhh, abide by the law? Respect government authority? Immigration and welcoming foreigners is different than open boarders allowing anyone/everyone in. Legal immigration is great, not against it in the slightest. But not everyone should be in this country.. not everyone comes with good intentions. Idk what’s with the people against immigration all together, but don’t put all “Christians” in the same box. I would say the U.S wouldn’t be what it is without its racial diversity.

Then he said “Make them go missing and justify it by pretending they’re in a violent gang”

Sure, Jesus tells us that we should abide by the law and respect government authority. He doesn’t say to actively support policies that make the enforcement of laws more violent and tear apart families. He doesn’t say we should dehumanize criminals. A central part of his teachings is to treat the lowest members of society with dignity and humility
