“Democrats” are a center-right, neoliberal establishment with progressive social coding that they don’t actually stand firm on. The vast majority of self described democrats are not at all well informed on leftist theory or history, and are very unlikely to be people who would jump to the defense of Vladimir Lenin, pictured here
In the frame of American Politics yes the Dems are the left party. Although the majority of views that Dem politicians have would be considered right wing on a broad scale. Most Dem politicians would be considered conservative in the majority of the western world outside of the U.S.
That’s an absurd oversimplification. Right/left thinking originates from the French Revolution and is about economic and social organization at its core. Right movements are those that support traditional hierarchical structures with a clearly defined ruling/owning class and underclass. Left movements are those that support collectivism, worker agency/autonomy, and class dissolution.
Dems cosplay as left by imitating the aesthetics of class dissolution with socially progressive talking points, but they are always just as quick as the GOP to protect and support the entrenched neoliberal system over human interests whenever things come down to it, and they work to absorb and pacify actual leftist movements. They are by all means a right wing party
