It isn’t a slur, but it has been used disparingly. In many cases it’s the same concept as calling a Jewish person a “Jew” in a derogative way. In the case of the post I made, the joke comes from this understanding of derogative side which the term “goyim” can be used. Hope my explanation helps

It means “non Jew” just in the scary Jewish language, Yiddish. It is a neutral term and like other neutral terms it CAN be used disparagingly. The problem is the narrative around it has become that it’s “proof” that Jews are plotting against the rest of the world and hate non Jews
