this mf don’t know that buses are an extremely effective way to introduce public transit to smaller metropolitan areas where the financial outlay necessary for streetcars and rail to be constructed can’t be justified
Buses. Buses are idiotic. It’s 🚋 & rail we need. Additionally, we shouldn’t subtract roads, we should add rail.

not to mention the ability of busses to expand the reach of transit systems far beyond rail lines by acting like ‘capillaries’ for the ‘arteries’ of rail lines

Tbh we should build cities from scratch with correct infrastructure instead of trying to force good infrastructure into a car centric system

Also buses improve quality of life for so many people in urban areas. The unhoused, seniors, people with mobility conditions, all of whom would have an absolutely terrible time on a train and honestly only need to be transported a few blocks in the first place.

This. Good public transport isn’t just train. It’s train + other shit that makes the trains more effective

When major winter storms hit my city last winter, the trains were mostly shut down but the buses still ran as mobile shelters until the actual warming centers could open up.

Where R U? That’s the opposite of what happened where I am. W/ rail systems, they can be winterized but w/roads it has to be an expensive, dedicated effort to keep them open.
