Because modern American evangelical Christianity developed out of multiple revival movements particularly in the 1800s and have basically competed with each other to see who can be the most capitalistically successful church

Must be why I’m shocked that they call themselves conservative…and why they’re shocked by me—I’m basically advocating for ancient Chinese style governance given my background.
