I’m gonna read the Bible just to see what the fuss is all about tbh and then prove Christian nationalists wrong within two seconds when they try to justify hate from this book

Honestly the bible is a fucking fantastic read when you aren’t trying to attach religious significance to it. Like that’s part of why I didn’t end up religious. My grandma got me a comic bible when I started reading (at the same time my parents got me a Garfield anthology) and I was like “damn this comic is serious. good stuff, the pillar of salt goes hard. glad i have funny garfield comics too”

Read Numbers 5 11:31 And also the King James Version is liked by a lot of people for being one of the first modern English translations. From a literary perspective, it is well written.

Don’t tell them about the part where all of Jesus’s disciples convince all their followers to sell all their possessions to feed the poor and then live a simple life in service to others

Oh there is hate but it’s more directed at like Philistines and Midianites than anybody tbh. Old testament is brutal

It’s just updated to get rid of some archaic 16th century language while keeping the overall tone and structure

Ok quick google search says that the KJV bible is a lot more archaic. Uses “Elizabethan English.” Y So it uses Thou instead of You.

I quite like the archaic version. KJV was around time Shakespeare was active, so the prose really comes through. And the cadence of the older words adds to the effect.
