As someone who’s family escaped communism, this is some effective rage bait. If it’s not rage bait, then holy shit are you stupid…

Have you EVER retained any piece of information about the Soviet Union? I guess you’re right in the sense that everyone got purged or starved equally. Bad example

Yesss use the regime that caused over 10 MILLION deaths as a good example of human rights 😍 I’m sure everyone in the gulags had access to everything they needed to live a good life!

It isn’t. It’s universal among all communists, even anarchists sometimes use it. Next time you try and talk about a thing, you should know what it is first.

Historically it was created and first used by the Soviet Union, so forgive me for associating the symbol with it. In either case I don’t think any system modeled or inspired by it is going to be a good one

Isn't morality subjective?

upvote 1 downvote
default user profile icon

Even if it is, that doesn’t mean society can’t fictionalize an “objective” form of morality to enact socially

The Soviet Union wasn’t even the Soviet Union back then though… that was merely Lenin’s Russian Socialist Federated Soviet Republic RIGHT AFTER they overthrew the Tsarists…

upvote 5 downvote

But does that not mean that it isn't any better or worse inherently if a society collectively agrees these are not rights?

The RSFSR in its origins is still considered to have been a part of the Soviet regime, hence the name. Lenin started killing civilians in the name of communism under that symbol right after its creation, which ties back to my original point that using it after it symbolized horror for many for years is bad practice, and not to mention insensitive to the victims

Even if it wasn’t technically created by the official Soviet Union, it’s similar to the nazi emblem. It was originally a Hindu symbol but no one in their right mind would use it nowadays because of the terror associated with it

Ok? But I don’t think the confederate flag should be used for that same reason, ur started as the symbol of a nation that harmed a lot of people. For the same logic using the hammer ignores the millions killed under than banner.

So morals are just whatever people think is good at a given time? Meaning there really are no “rights” because you can have rights one day but the next day they might be revoked.

upvote 1 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #10 4w

The rights are socially real. They’re just not real in a metaphysical or natural sense.

upvote 0 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #2 4w

Yeah nah, morals don’t change like that and you know it. Just look at how long it took for us (meaning only about half the world btw) to accept that slavery is wrong.

Anonymous replying to -> #5 4w

So my conclusion still stands that rights aren’t really grounded by anything? Rights just exist in the moment people feel like they do. Including slavery, which was at a point in time okay because people felt black people didn’t have rights until society said they did

Not nearly at the rate that occurs in Japan or South Korea, furthermore things have changed since the 20 fucking years since this has been true. They how made the entire world dependent on their manufacturing and they have siphoned away industries from all their competitors/the West making the value of that labor sky rocket, hence why they can afford universal housing and the development of green infrastructure
