Fighting hate with hate only makes things worse. You think you’ve Won or given them Just reprimands, but they’ll just come back more infuriated than ever. I’ve seen it before. A lot.

There’s a fine line to walk here. Yes, being openly hostile and disrespectful to a person about any of their beliefs will just make them dig their feet in more. But this only really happens when people have an opinion they don’t feel very strongly about. If that belief is already strongly held, hostility isn’t going to move them in either direction. At first, one should be cordial and aim to educate. If they continue to prove themselves a willful ass, fuck it. Have at em.
