Private (especially religious) schools should be illegal. All they do is favor the rich and indoctrinate children

Smaller classes means a less stressed teacher who is capable of teaching and kids actually learn and take large strides unlike public school

Right now, they actually do help a lot in underfunded public areas. I think it is probably a good idea to have nation-wide regulations on homeschooling. Right now there’s essentially 0 regulations for homeschooling in states like Texas. It’s just “teach some spelling and some reading and some math” but it doesn’t say which math.

I detest private schools but I think making them illegal would do more harm than good

The benefits are only reaped by kids of parents that can afford the costs. Private schools wouldn’t be necessary if public schooling wasn’t so criminally underfunded. But again, banning them isn’t the solution

The solution to this is to fix the existing schools and the systems they operate on, not to provide alternatives only to the people that are able to afford them. You’re right about homeschooling though, so many kids are having their education botched bc their parents are not fit to be teachers

If public schools were given as much funding as private schools, then there wouldn’t be a problem. Private companies create the problem by lobbying for less funding for public education. The public education system then becomes so shitty that teachers and parents both flock to private schools, which empower the source of the problem further. Something similar happens with healthcare and mailing systems. Banning privatization of required institutions would prevent this.
