It’s weird what hobbies people associate with a political group. Like I love camping, backpacking, hiking, grilling, shooting, paintball, etc but I also believe in free healthcare and trans rights and people seem to act like those are contradictory

I shoot guns and enjoy them but believe fully in socialism and restricted gun rights.

Tried to join a gym in my area and it’s full of right wing white men only, blue lives matter flag on the wall. Told them im never coming back

Yea cause largely the movements that support those are contradictory to at least a few of those activities

Other than maybe shooting (still not really though) what activities would you say are contradictory to those beliefs

Like what did Democrats pass an anti grilling bill I don’t know about

I see a lot more backpacking and hiking restrictions in blue states and leftist countries like Canada

and legitimately like yeah I think there would be more restrictions in specific blue areas as to how and where you can operate a grill

Canada made hiking punishable by like a $25k CAD fine

“I think there would be” ok immediately like this just seems to be a made up problem. I’ve lived in blue areas my whole life and I’ve never had the problem that I couldn’t grill somewhere I wanted to dude

Just hiking in general? You are literally not allowed to go to a park and hike a trail or you’ll be fined $25k?

Literally never heard of it and I speak to Canadians every single day

Again in specified areas but yes no outdoor activity at all on public lands

Several provinces in Canada, including Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador, have issued orders to stay out of the woods, claiming fire danger. On August 5, Nova Scotia, Canada banned people from hiking, camping, fishing and the use of vehicles like ATVs in the woods due to the elevated wildfire risk.

Newfoundland and Labrador says it will fine violators of the burn ban up to $150,000, as well as up to a year in prison.

So you are just saying something without helpful context. If you're going to say something give the context. Otherwise don't speak.

Ok yeah so I looked it up, you were not allowed to do activities in woods for like 6 weeks because of wildfire season. Kinda sucks but doesn’t seem super unreasonable if I’m being honest

So to be clear, you could still go hiking and do stuff outdoors as long as you didn’t do it in the woods from mid-August to October

Yeah see who gives a fuck you're saying shit and not giving context. “Most wildfires are caused by human activity, so to reduce the risk, we’re keeping people out of the woods until conditions improve. I’m asking everyone to do the right thing – don’t light that campfire, stay out of the woods and protect our people and communities.”

Ok so we found one place that put a temporary ban on activities in the woods. Might I add a conservative government that did so. Don’t think that’s really supporting your point that there’s some kind of anti-hiking movement among the left

Absolutely! I have tons of fun shooting guns but I also totally believe they should be restricted, I’m NRA certified and have worked professionally around them, and use them only in safe and secure ways with people I trust

Not necessarily! Sometimes the restrictions feel like they’re policing your fun, but most real outdoors-folk understand that the regulations are to preserve the lands and wildlife so that they stay amazing (Hello from beautiful North California!)
