The Save Act would require either a passport (which costs money) or a paper trail of name changes going all the way back to your birth certificate, making voting much harder for married women who do not travel all the time.

I’d be for it if the process was guaranteed to be free and efficient, with an election grace period built in for those who need time to get their (FREE) passport. Anything else is just charging people for their right to vote, which is wrong. Birth certificate should NEVER be the only option because it might disenfranchise anyone who had a name change (many women and trans people, big discrimination no no)

If we want a process that requires a passport for voting, we first need a CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT granting every citizen a right to a free passport within a set time of ordering it

allowing being part of governmental decision making to be straight up free is a relatively new one and not one that’s been going well so far. lower the price of a passport but make it like $100 or something. just straight up you need to pay $50 for the voting thing if you’re a functioning member of this society

Pretty racist if you thinking people can’t afford id - you have to have id to rent an apt, buy alcohol, buy cigarettes/vape, board a plan, get a job. I’m a minority and my mother has never had the $ to buy a car. We had snap and free lunch and my mama has ALWAYS had a state issued ID card. I got my real id updated this summer for $10. It was a real id when originally issued in 2017 too. Yall really be thinking black people are animals that can’t get to the dmv???

Ok so people who are poor aren’t smart enough to go to the dmv? How rhey doing anything without id??? My mama made minimum wage and barely above it her entire life. Literally everyone I know has id. WHO doesnt???????? How they applying for jobs? Damn can’t even get a library card to get on the internet to apply for aid without a damn ID. WHO doesn’t have ID???

Tell your adult cracker ass friend if her crazy ass parents won’t give her the birth certificate or ss card she needs to get a state id, as an adult, she can apply for them on her own. I picked up a woman on the side of a rural road once - thought she was a kid dead fr - but she was just passed out drunk she had no id said the people she was with took all her shit at the shelter I took her to they assured her they’d be able to help her with the $$ and time to get id.

Girl I JUST applied for a passport 2 days ago. I changed my last name when I married bc my father was a worthless piece of shit and I didn’t want to be tied to him anymore. Kept only the initial for my legal name. They took my birth certificate and marriage license and my passport photos and application. Girl took it all without batting an eye. Literally said NOTHING about how my name changed at 27. Yall just making up shit to scare black folks. Stop this white savior bullshit
