the right to bare arms has been written into law btw. private ownership of guns is not guaranteed by the constitution. All the constitution says is the congress can’t take weapons from military or police. so if ALL gun laws are unconstitutional…

There's probably a dozen different ways to disprove this commonly repeated falsehood, but my favorite is the plain text argument. "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". Go ahead and explain how that part of the constitution works with this legal theory.

The Supreme Court has interpreted right to bear arms as exactly that. Private ownership of guns.

correct me if i’m wrong but they have interpreted law legalizing private ownership as constitutional. the supreme court doesn’t just decide if something is or isn’t allowed. they rule on the constitutionality of preexisting laws or legal standing based on laws that have been made
