maybe not fully but in my experience that’s what people mean when they promote socialism- they’re talking democratic socialism with somewhat blended economies just extensive public programs

Where is this source from and its bs, Castro is a dictator who expelled and killed anyone he deemed “counter revolutionary.” And there’s a reason why Cuba is poor today and it’s because of socialism. I can tell yall are gonna bring up “Oh but the embargo” as if Cuba wasn’t already terrible under Castro. Get educated

The current government is authoritarian and the economy is not good. It is correct to criticize an over-reliance on sugar exports and a failure to diversify economic output. But this dumbass romanticization of Batista is baffling to me, and so is how many Cuban-Americans just blindly listen to republicans whenever they call normal liberal shit communism.

https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/gdp-per-capita-maddison-project-database?tab=line&region=NorthAmerica&country=~CUB The source is our world in data. It’s a trustworthy source. Sorry that the statistics don’t match the Cuba de Ayer myth which whitewashes Cuban history.

Never said Fidel wasn’t a dictator. Never said Cuba doesn’t have massive economic problems. But life under Batista fucking sucked unless you were one of the super-wealthy. And it’s idiotic how many people use Cuba, which has been sabotaged at every turn, as some argument for why we shouldn’t have affordable healthcare

that’s the thing like it’s one thing to say we shouldn’t have a fully socialized nation and another to say literally no socialist policy whatsoever
