50 year mortgage? What a joke 😂 basically the same as renting a house to death with even slower equity accumulation than a 30 year mortgage. This doesn’t address the root issues behind declining home ownership and this is a poor “solution”.

Already hearing people say “well for some people this may be the only way they can afford a house”. At that point just rent until you die. I’m never enslaving myself to 50 years of debt so I have 50% equity in a house by the time I’m retirement age.

Like surely they can afford a condo or something. No one said they needed a house

Fr, they’re just trying to make some move so they can flex and say “Trump is REVOLUTIONIZING home ownership in America”😂the FHFA director Pulte is such a mindless drone it’s so funny he does whatever Trump says he wants to, and he’s completely unqualified.

The right defending the move saying it’s actually a good thing to pay almost double interest bc it will lower your monthly payment a couple hundred dollars. Also if I was a bank I’d never hold a 50 year mortgage, there’s so much prepayment and interest rate risk if it’s fixed rate.

Yeah we got china-style state directed capitalism now where the government is investing taxpayer funds in private corporations where we’ll never see any returns.

Ngl I might be down for a sovereign wealth fund but you need serious transparency with that, and really good oversight too. Without that you might as well have a slush fund

Yeah no reason for it here where we have crazy debt and a budget deficit, if we had excess wealth that’d be sick
