I like how the President of the United States just lies to our faces about literally everything to the point his cabinet meetings have to be fact checked and some people just eat it up like slop. Excellent system we’ve built up here!

News flash buddy, everybody in the government lies. Everybody you know also lies to some degree. Nobody is 100% honest. You probably lie to yourself sometimes

I mean, usually if somebody is blatantly lying to my face consistently I’d cut them out of my life. Or vote them out of office the next time around. Which I have done both. Who gives a shit who else does it though, they aren’t the fucking president dawg. Even trying to defend that shit is just sad

I’d rather someone lie to my face than behind my back. Even if you voted whoever out, the new person you voted for still probably lied to you at some point

Wouldn’t you rather someone not lie at all?? Like why is the reaction “oh yeah he’s a lying piece of shit but so is everyone else so it doesn’t really matter anyways” versus “oh let’s not put a lying piece of shit in power next time?”

That’s a really depressing way to go through life though ngl, just assuming that everyone must be lying to you all the time. Like yes, when it comes to politics it’s a realistic assumption. And yes it’s wrong for them to lie. Why not get rid of the ones who do it when you find out about it? That encourages elected officials to tell the truth or be removed from power. Like obviously it wouldn’t work perfectly, but it’d be better than just letting it happen bc “at least you can see it”
