Why do christians want the government to oppress people they don't like but not help the poor and homeless like Jesus would do?

Christian nationalism is a small portion of American christians. They've waited for an administration like this for ages. I've been raised in what was essentially a cult offshoot based in feverish ideas of American history and Christianity. Every individual oppressive act has some insane justification to it.

False, every Christian - even the most "liberal" - still followed the same delusion and is therefore suspect

It’s tricky to separate abrahamic religions, or any major religion from the institution and simply the faith but not everyone is like this
