Where can I invest in trans people???

There is no “trans bubble.” Transness is not an industry and, in any civilized state of affairs does not implicate an economic relationship or exchange. There are trans people, and their rights are hotly contested. The oligarchs currently exploiting the AI bubble do and will continue to use that dispute to distract people from their abusive practices. Understand the difference.

I think ppl are starting to tire of the idea that you can change your sex and I think it will lead to an outright rejection soon

Actually it’s not that you can change your sex that’s frustrating ppl I actually believe it’s the idea that by making personal choices (socially transitioning) you can “opt out” of some privileges and “opt in” to being one of the most marginalized groups.

Even tho I have no idea how the ai and the transness are connected I feel like ppl are going to reject both strongly at the time for some reason

People generally don’t volunteer to identify as trans, they do so because it’s what makes them most comfortable with their identity

I feel like there’s an argument for the hormone and surgeries as part of a medical industry that gets billed and stuff

Like the fact that cis women can’t get breast augmentation covered but trans women can does suggest that there’s some financial benefit to covering the procedure in certain contexts over others

It’s not a speculative market tho. Private Equity and finance bros aren’t playing ring around the Rosie with trillions of dollars in the HRT industry, they are with AI, they did with housing in 08, they did with utility automobile and gas in 1929

I’m not arguing that transitioning in our current state of affairs isn’t part of the privatized healthcare industry, I’m taking the position that this is a bad way of handling things and should be amended.

I’m not saying they’re the same industry or the same financial incentives, just that personally believe the bubbles will pop at the same time

i would highly recommend not having an opinion about something if you have no knowledge or expertise on the subject lol. if you are going to have an opinion anyway, please admit your lack of knowledge so you don’t look like an ultracrepidarian.

Where are you getting your belief that there is a bubble

As I previously mentioned I think that the billing side of medicine sees some kind of advantage to some of these procedures for these patients over others, which I’ve noticed more people are becoming frustrated with that.

It’s like $3 billion dollars per year that’s spent on these surgeries. You may be right, probably are regarding how much scavenging occurs in the insurance-manufacturer-provider chain, but it’s not a scale that changes markets drastically. If NVDA shares drop 0.06% more money is lost than that entire market.

Also my use of the word bubble isn’t strictly financial so maybe I could’ve used perceived tolerance bc I think the procedures covered thing + general public’s view on things (namely opting in/out of oppression and privilege) changing is going to combine to change what the average persons opinion on the topic is. I separately think that I’m seeing an intolerance for AI rising at rapidly and now I believe the perceived tolerance for both are trending down

I see, I missed your comment amending “bubble” to just mean a collapse of public opinion. That’s an imprecise use of that term, to be incredibly generous. Comparing social approval for human rights to social approval for environmental abuse and economic predation is insane, especially when you haven’t provided ANY nexus or analysis to justify it.

Why do you use the word “tolerance” for trans issues. It’s not something to be tolerated, it’s an inviolable obligation of the community.

I’m gonna be really honest, dude it’s yikyak, I’m not gonna sit here here and write out my entire reason with citations and details bc ppl responding think I need to. I mostly just was thinking out loud ab how these things aren’t connected but feel like they’re somehow on the same timeline. I do think there’s a financial piece to it hence why I said bubble to begin with, but I don’t rly thing the financial piece is causing the push back of either.

I’m not saying you need to, I’m just saying you don’t deserve to be taken seriously on this until you do. How you navigate those options is your own prerogative.

I’m not even tryna be aggy it’s just deadass 10 am on a Saturday and my college has a game later im mostly just thinkin. I also think that the human rights vs environmental abuse type language is also gonna effect the public perception, if it hasn’t already

There’s a sentiment that’s growing that ppl (women, more specifically) are tolerating being labeled as oppressors by those who previously oppressed them and that they should not have to. Thats part of what I’m referring to

Gender-affirming care is not exclusively used by trans people though. Given the sheer ratio of cisgender to transgender individuals in the population, cis people seek gender-affirming care much more

I’m not sure if it’s about financial benefit so much as harm to the patient that insurance is concerned with. Gender-affirming surgery for trans people can avert suicide and acute mental health crises, whereas breast augmentation for cis women is usually a cosmetic procedure
