You ever wonder why we haven’t gotten anything back from the aliens despite sending out broadcast? Well bc space is so large the farthest any sound waves have traveled is only 100 light years it hasn’t even made it out of our arm of the galaxy 😭😭😭

It’s even worse. The expansion of the universe means there is a region of space that our signals will simply never reach, because the expansion will outpace the speed of light.

I believe the answer is different. Depending on who you are, it’s either comforting or terrifying. But I think we’re in some kind of “preserve”

Also I’m sure you meant light, not sound waves, bc sound doesn’t travel at the speed of light lol

Even though this is true, our radio waves have reached a few dozen of the closest potentially habitable exoplanets! I think NASA discovered something like 7 around a single star ~39 light years away. Right now, it’s likely that they’ve passed life, but the question is if there’s intelligent life

Very interesting conspiracy theory but Ima stick with the simple fact we have only broadcasted to what amts to .0000000000000001 % of the universe

If it traveled at the speed of light we would have met aliens already so you know that distance in space is also measured using light-years bc it’s the speed of light is a universal constant

Sound can’t travel in space. All electromagnetic radiation is a kind of light. Radio waves gamma rays microwaves and visible light all travel at the speed of light, and its radio waves you’re talking about rn

Yup but also you gotta realize that 100 light years is a very very long way. Thats 587 trillion miles.

Yeah it is a really long way it’s just such a small part of our galaxy let alone the universe 😭 we don’t even really know for sure that the universe even ends or begins anywhere
