question for ppl against affirmative action: what alternative would you suggest to decrease the impact of racial bias in admissions?
Banning affirmative action makes sense: it’s unconstitutional race based discrimination Also agree with overturning Roe v. Wade: the right to privacy doesn’t apply to abortion and “substantive due process” is questionable

You can increasing funding for schools in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas. Make free SAT prep available. Free online guidance counseling The answer is NOT race-based discrimination I also don’t believe in forcing a quota: California is 35% white and 17% Asian. UCLA is 25% white and 40% Asian. Does that mean we should discriminate against Asians and lower the SAT / GPA requirements for White people?

I’m not aware of racial bias in admissions. Admissions officers should not be shown applicants’ race.

there’s like a million opportunities in the admissions process for admissions people to learn someone’s race or even assume it even if it’s not front of mind

I’m not aware of racial discrimination against Black students in the admissions process - assuming same SAT and GPA as white students. The academic research I’ve seen shows the opposite. Do you have any evidence you can share?

if everyone has racial bias which they do and it skews to negative perceptions of black and brown communities which it does they’d naturally be unconsciously discriminating. now people are race conscious but if the goal was for people to absolutely not even think about it you’d have unconscious bias

Do you have any academic research which indicates this occurs in college admissions? Like I said, I’m not aware of this in college admissions. All the research I’ve seen indicates the opposite: Black and Brown students with the same SAT and GPA are more likely to be accepted than Asian and White students
