It does. Although, in reality it’s just w piece of paper to them. If there are no consequences to their actions they can continue to ignore the law because it has no actual authority.

The law applies to everyone 🤓 I think your type is the one that struggles with this concept.

Need a warrant based off a suspected reason to search people or take their things. 👍🏻

No one takes consequences seriously anymore because they’re not severe enough. That’s why people act the way they do. Everyone.

Were they homes of citizens?

(A) this is them saying they have the right to do so, and they’ve been arresting a startling number of US citizens anyway (B) the constitution applies to anyone in the US. that’s pretty important, actually.

I am a natural born citizen, as is everybody else in my household. None of our immigration statuses have ever been in question. ICE shows up demanding I let them into my home to “check our papers” with no warrant. I lock the door and tell them to leave the premises. Who is in the wrong?

Let me guess, “should have just complied.”? “They have immunity so constitutional rights don’t apply to them.”? “You have nothing to fear if you have nothing to hide.”?

I do think they should get a warrant first because they won’t know till they see the papers. Do I think you should just show the dang papers to make the process quicker for yourself? Yes. Serious question though I actually don’t know this, are they even able to get a warrant to search someone they don’t have record of who isn’t a citizen here?

Like what’s the purpose of not complying just for the sake of not complying especially if you have what they’re asking for?

I was just reading that Ice can detain someone in a public place without a judge’s warrant under federal law (8 U.S.C. §1357). In public areas. They only need probable cause that the person is here unlawfully and likely to flee before a warrant is issued. Homes are different though.

Do I need a justification to exercise the rights that I am legally granted? No. But here’s a few: -I have a moral opposition to unaccountable government goons going door-to-door making demands without warrants -If I let them into my home, they could decide at any point that they are afraid of my dog and shoot first, ask questions later -Any unnecessary interaction with them opens the door for them to escalate situations or start prying into things other than my citizenship status
