Music itself is just notes, it’s never needed to have lyrics to be good or enjoyable. but now all of a sudden having lyrics in a different language makes the music itself unlistenable? Some of y’all didn’t listen to lofi beats for every study session

90% of what makes a good song is shit other than the lyrics, being like “English Only!!!” is just a self-imposed limit on one’s own taste

I really like Russian and Japanese music. I don’t speak Russian or Japanese.

This whole experience has been very eye-opening to the fact that I like songs based on the actual melody, etc. compared to the lyrics and some people are very much the opposite

thinking about that Adriano Celentano, an Italian pop singer, who made a song imitating what English sounds like in music, so it’s actually just gibberish but it’s a jam fr. I think he called it “Prisencolinensinainciusol” lmao

I mean I love some good lyrics in music that’s in English, but if it’s not in English, I’m judging the vocals on how they sound idgaf what they’re on about

i love listening to spanish music and later reading the translation to see if I understood the message through the vocals and the instrumentation. sometimes i’m surprised, other times i learn useful phrases in that language. i do the same with other languages if i find songs that i love enough, like “Promise of the World” by Chieko Baisho and conducted by Joe Hisaishi, or “Come” by Namie Amuro.

Oh hell yes. Russians and Japanese are REALLY good at music. They love music so much in both countries and it shows.
