Completely disagree, I’ve lived my entire life in the heart of the south and the people flying that flag know exactly what it stands for and they fly it for exactly that reason

Me too, I live in sc and near me are the poorest areas, most of them say “it’s our heritage” I also see African Americans who claim they accept it because the South is where black culture originated

The “it’s just heritage” argument came from the first KKK revival and was used to deliberately obfuscate the racist origins of the Confederacy and that flag, it’s plausible deniability more than any legitimate care for history or heritage

Not quite, “it’s just heritage” argument of the KKK was about flying the blood cross flag, the confederate flag is also in and of itself racist, however many people genuinely just think it represents the South as a whole, since a new flag for the South hasn’t been made
