believe it or not, it’s happened before- coroners in Mississippi aren’t even required to be licensed physicians. the family doesn’t believe their son committed suicide, and is seeking an outside/second opinion. It is markedly unusual for anyone to have committed suicide by way of stringing themself up upon a tree on a college campus- I cannot blame them for being suspicious.
Right I’m just saying it seems that in MS the coroners aren’t doing the heavy lifting so your point about them not being licensed is irrelevant. For law enforcement, a coroner, and an ME to all conclude that it was self-inflicted and that there was no other trauma makes it kind of just seem to be what it is. Nobody knows what this kid was dealing with but I’m sure things will come to light.
