like oh wow the people who believe that a higher is managing everything are less stressed/worried about the state of their life. Intravenous MDMA would probably also make a lot of people feel happy.

You didnt look at the stats then, inactive believes were less happy then active believers. Therefore just the idea alone isnt sufficient, maximum happiness requires active participation in a religious life. Given the countries listed, statistically, that means daily prayers, weekly mass, and all the other unfun parts of religion

Measurable well-being isn't vacuous just because you disagree with its source. Humanism should prioritize reducing suffering over metaphysical purity.

Stated happiness is not a metric of wellbeing. It’s a metric of perceived happiness.

When the fuck did I say that? Everyone is free to practice religion and I acknowledge that religion is a positive force in many people’s lives. I disagree with the notion that “maximizing religiosity” is an admirable goal.
