python is not solely a CS thing, python is used in a lot of other STEM disciplines for plotting, modelling, and general data analysis. i did physics for my undergrad and i’m doing eng for my masters and i’ve written a LOT of python.

at my school for basically everything it’s “you can’t use matlab or python” and most of the older profs only really know matlab but they don’t want to teach matlab so they’ve given in to python.
