Intentional misgendering should be illegal. It is extremely degrading and can and does lead to mental illness

I tend to be pretty big on free speech but genuinely I think intentional misgendering solidly counts as harassment and therefore should be charged as such.

Nah. We have harassment as a legal classification for a reason. Assault is physical, harassment is verbal.

Assault doesn’t have to be physical. Assault can mean there is the threat of violence. I would argue that due to misgendering often causing mental illness/selfharm it would be reasonable to assume violent intent

Misgendering I don’t think carries the threat of physical harm. It inflicts psychological harm, which is harassment.
