Hasn’t been for decades. Democrats have reliably reduced or at least slowed the growth of the debt. Republicans have relatively sped up and increased the growth of the debt. Bill Clinton achieved a balanced budget. Then Bush started two pointless wars and effectively created the start of our modern debt issues.
