I’m an emt that has worked many hours in the ER, I was also premed and have a few hours of shadowing but not much. I don’t think my experience in healthcare would change my view on this subject so maybe I’m ignorant to something that you believe. Educate me on why your experience in healthcare makes you think we can’t pay our providers the same
4 years as cc NRP. I have been assaulted my partners have been assaulted I’ve seen RN be assaulted. I’ve seen all of the above be sued. The biggest thing I’ve seen working the truck is people taking advantage of 911. Miss Medicaid calling for toe pain for the 10th time this month while I hear a cardiac arrest is across town with no one available to respond. Health care is expensive that’s why it should be abused. If you worked on the truck you’d know how abused 911 is. Let alone the ED.
That’s the difference between us. I am getting a degree in psychology so I have taken the time to understand why someone might be in the position to call 911 when they don’t truly need it. frequent fliers are mostly a thing because we don’t have good mental health resources to take care of that population. In my city we are fortunate enough to have a very well functioning independent EMS department. I can’t say we have the same issues. On that level it’s a failure of the system in place
not a failure on healthcare as a whole. the entire system is broken. it can be fixed if we had compassionate healthcare workers that didn’t call our patients “Miss Medicaid” I get you have a different prospective on this and that’s why it’s super important for healthcare providers to find a way to agree on things because when we don’t they only thing that results is harm.
Sorry would you like me to use first and last on the woman who call 911 over 550 times last year. Who said “I just like wasting your time” “why would I get health insurance when I can make you pay for it” compassion can only go so far for one person who disrespects the whole system. Some people get the bare minimum bc they leach off the system. Don’t assume my level of passion for this field off one example especially when you don’t actively practice in the field.
