NATO’s ROE in these interventions has arguably never been as loose or disastrous as Russia has done in Ukraine. Russias track record of conflicts in Chechnya, Georgia, Syria and Ukraine has yielded drastically more civilian deaths and atrocities than NATO has ever done

This is a pretty juvenile take on any geopolitical topic. Geopolitics is rarely black and white- it’s a lot, and I mean a lot, of grey areas. An example: I support Palestine and their right to self determination and wish to see the end of the occupation. I do not, however, support Hamas. Tho I can see why Palestinians go to them given their circumstances

that being said tho, it’s weird as fuck that OP is defending the cessation of elections in Ukraine. orangutan is absolutely right about it being an effective dictatorship, and that is common amongst states weaponized within proxy wars. (I can’t respond to the actual comment in question because the person who commented originally (I think #3) has me blocked lmao) let’s not forget that the fascists rising to power within the US also hope for that same cessation of elections to take place here.

I mean I did refer to the comment of yours in which you defended the cessation of elections. I believe you said that they can “have elections later” or something along those lines? elections can indeed take place during an ongoing war; and any delays or cancellations of such should only be performed with the approval of the voting population.

Ukraine being invaded and abused as a proxy state is utterly terrible, but the destabilization of their democracy is also a part of that.

To an extent I get- but Ukraine literally can’t have elections under martial law according to their constitution because…well bombs and the like. And not to mention parts of Ukraine are under occupation so how would they be able to vote?

Their democracy is definitely being threatened outside and within, you and I can definitely agree on that, but the question still stands- how can elections happen safely and effectively with constant attacks, populations in occupied territory, and active soldiers in the fields?

Good question! It’s not okay. I don’t actually support Russia. Neither does orangutan. I just think he’s right. Russia wants port access and will do almost anything for it. This is a neutral analysis of geopolitics and not support for what they’re doing.
