I think because very few people regret having kids once they do and they view it as short sighted to say you don’t want them. Just my experience

But it still doesn’t affect them. Ik you’re just giving a reason that you’ve seen, but whoever said that still shouldn’t be so butt hurt about other people not having kids.

Theres tons of things that don’t affect me directly, that doesn’t mean they’re necessarily good

how is it short sighted? because you won't have someone to take care of you when you're old? if so that is no reason to have kids

Ok? So you don’t think they’re good… is it affecting anyone else? Negatively? No? Ok.

Believ studies show less than 10% of people who have kids end up regretting it

I’ve seen it around 15% which is like more than 1 in 10 people. 1 in 10 is a lot. I imagine the methodology here is tricky too since it would have to be self reporting and many people are probably not going to want to admit something like that.

Yeah I mean I’ve only seen one study/poll that was like 12%. Most I’ve seen have been under or around 10. Definitely a hard thing to poll when polls around stuff like this are already notoriously pretty inaccurate.

I mean I personally don’t care, but a country does need to sustain its population to survive. Shrinking birth rates mean more and more people are living into old age while there are less people entering the workforce to support them. A low fertility rate does bring some problems for our societys

maybe if the same people pushing for people to have kids put that same effort into improving education, pregnancy resources, poverty, the economy, etc. people would be more willing to have kids. i don't want kids either way but i definitely don't want to bring another human being into this shit hole of a country

I’m all for shitting on the state of the US, but none of those things that you listed here are bad enough compared to other countries in the world to attribute that to low fertility. From everything I’ve seen it’s just cost of living fears, climate change and then a pretty steep drop off after that for other reasons

You did mention the economy and poverty as two reasons. Didn’t read closely enough.
