Hey so I’m in medical school rn, active euthanasia is illegal (mostly) but we have a little something called doctrine of double effect, where you can give a medication for a good reason like pain control and incidentally kill the patient (usually reserved for severe cases of palliative care)
we actually had a debate about this in my high school Current Events class… funny enough, i think we watched an episode of Morgan Spurlock’s show that followed someone’s journey with assisted su*cide in the PNW. It didn’t show their final moments, but it showed all the measures taken beforehand, the distinct lucid affirmative from the terminally ill patient, and they were sat in their home with family and medical professionals. They were in a fluffy daybed that was also a windowseat. Gorgeous.
