never forget that the conservative movement immediately accepted Kanye West when he became outwardly antisemitic.

Does nobody see the pattern? 1) say something extreme. Identity morality culture relationships. 2) sell it hard. Tears conviction, long explanations. 3) let the Internet react. 4) if it sells this is my truth if people disagree “obviously I was trolling” It’s a mashup of reality TV show logic shock Jack tactics and Internet, irony culture where no one is sincere and no one is accountable when they miss the mark

Your problem here is that you’re grouping all “conservatives” as having the same beliefs here. Most do not agree with the crazies like Candace Owens and Nick Fuentes who would welcome Kanye with open arms. If I recall correctly, many conservatives were VERY concerned when Trump had dinner with Kanye. Just imagine if all liberals were grouped together, and conservatives claimed that the Bernies and Mamdanis represented all liberals. We all know both are not true. Do better.

And yet many conservatives voted for Trump even after his dinner with Kanye and Fuentes. Seems like they’re pretty willing to overlook nazis

i think this is super important to not just assume that everyone on one side of a political argument agrees with everyone else on the same side but yeah, i agree with #3 that it seems like theyre willing to overlook it/don’t see that as a huge compromising of morals and a dealbreaker which isn’t great.

Wow, that’s great Ur comparing Candace Owen and Nick Fuentes to Bernie Sanders. Someone who will say anything as long as the money is right And you’re comparing him to Bernie Sanders. Bernie Sanders has had the same core beliefs for 60+ years. It’s always been the same playbook. Reducing income inequality, Universal healthcare, workers, rights, and stronger labor protections, campaign finance reform, ending unnecessary wars & stronger social safety nets expanding Social Security and Medicare.

But we were told we can’t afford these things because we sent all the money that was supposed to help our taxpayers to Ukraine and to Israel and to ice’s most recent bonus. But we can afford to give tax breaks to the billionaires. And nobody is happy about this people on the left and people on the right. And what do they do? Vote for TV personalities? Who’s next Andrew Schultz?

True, they’re not Kanye. But they’re not so different from Trump. At least in Mamdani’s case, he’s called noted Islamists (meaning people who have called for death to Jews and the West) his personal friends and been seen with them various times in public. This is a both-sides issue. As for Republican voters not caring, I think it’s more of not wanting the other side to win than full agreement with Trump (again, similar situation with Democrats).

Oh no, concern????? They were CONCERNED when the President had dinner with a Nazi? The humanity 🙄

And have you seen one liberal speak out when Mamdani has openly supported people who literally call for death to the Jews and death to America? At least there’s concern on one end. Seems like complete ignorance at best, or acceptance at worst, on the other end.

Who the fuck was talking about Mamdani? If you’re suddenly worried about antisemitism you might want to check in with the guy running the white house, given he used an antisemitic slur like 2 months into his term lol

I’m bringing him up since you’re making this sound like a right only issue, when it’s clearly not. When did Trump use an anti-Semitic slur? He literally has a Jewish daughter, so I don’t think anti-Semitism is a concern with him.

Also let’s not act like Trump being antisemitic is enough for you to stop supporting him. There will just be more mental gymnastics

He literally said he had no idea the statement had anything to do with Judaism. If this is your only “evidence” for Trump being anti-Semitic, it’s extremely weak.

Let’s not forget this classic from ‘91 , which Trump admitted was “probably true” “Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day."

Calm down, man. It just isn’t that deep. Actions speak louder than words, and Trump has done WAY more for the Jewish community which would negate any kind of off-putting joke he has made. Jews are literally his family (one of whom is an advisor to him). I sincerely doubt he is anti-Semitic.

I feel like antisemitism is definitely a concern just because of how he has scapegoated other groups based on race or ethnicity. He definitely does not seem concerned with preventing discrimination at all

It’s not a slur. As a Jewish person, I’ve never even heard of it until this conversation. It’s entirely plausible he didn’t know it had any offensive Jewish connotations.
