I haven’t been to the Westman islands but I did go to Grindavík just before the recent eruptions. The basque thing is really interesting. Between that, their massive fishing “empire” off Newfoundland in the 1500s, and them being nearly the last non Proto indo European language remaining in Europe, I imagine they have some incredibly unique cultural stories
