No I’m sorry I was too generous. They make a 900 page document outlining their plans. I read it. I knew what they were going to do. Yall thought it was a democrat hoax for fearmongering. YOU DIDNT READ YOUR OWN PARTIES POLICIES because you KNEW they were awful but you didn’t want to admit and instead dug your fucking hold
Why is the only real argument I’m seeing here “Oh.. well… they didnt campaign how I would’ve liked so therefore it’s okay for Neo-Hitler that we all agree is worse to win”? Fence sitting, abstaining from voting, and this attitude of self above duty to society is the reason we have the fucked ass admin and this fucked nation lmao
If you truly and utterly believe the reason Trump won is due to the voter base and not the complete and utter failure that was the Biden and Kamala campaign at convincing voters they would do anything to provide any fucking change from an already unpopular presidency you don’t understand politics at more than a team sport level
I mean the reason I would call them bad is different then a fucking republican, rn I’m talking about how there campaign was dogshit and instead of alienating the base and trying to be republican lites they could have won if they kept any of the early progressive vibes with Walz and shit, but she sucked off the corporate donors as soon as they got mad
And if you read my comment Trump winning is Kamala’s fault lol they weren’t going to win over the people thinking she’s a communist illegal immigrant lover, so idk why she brought out a war criminals daughter to be besties with and relied only on celebrities endorsements rather than coming up with any policies that would activate the voters bases desire for change
I’m not here to soothe a voters bruised ego, that’s a politicians job. I’m just going to say the truth and the truth is that there is zero good justification for someone to vote for trump and pretty much everyone who did is probably kinda politically dumb to put it nicely. Be mad at the Biden campaign all you want, I am too, but the fact is that we are democracy and the voters reflect how we are as a country, and we should all be fucking ashamed by what we chose.
Okay then we’re just doomed as a country, if we want to treat voters like babies and democrats have to be perfect messianic figures or else voters will vote for a narcissistic two year old who wants ti destroy everything then fine. Good luck guys, it’s going to be a great future ahead of us.
Be more angry at a party that won’t be effective against fascism than you are at a population. If you’re mad at a group of people as a collective then you aren’t accomplishing anything. Your feeling means nothing and it’s unproductive. You’re yelling into a void. Anger should be directed against the most powerful actor who is most directly responsible for the issue.
If you’re going to make some objectively unpopular 80 year old your vanguard against fascism, and you’re not going to have a competitive primary and then you replace him with somebody else halfway through the campaign, and you’re not going to promise any significant deviation from the current, deeply unpopular direction that the country is going, and then after all of that you’re going to expect everybody to vote for you because you got the Cheneys on your side. Congratulations.
“Voter blaming is annoying” tell that to the people that have been killed, detained, raped, and deported bc of ice. Tell that to the trans, gay, and LGBT+ people losing or having their rights challenged every day. Tell that to the black and people of color in this country experiencing systemic oppression and racism since and before this country’s founding. Imagine how “annoying” that must be.
i think what we’re seeing here is a positive vs. normative debate. normatively, voters should inform themselves. they should do research and they should make rational choices based on that. in this world, we can blame voters for either not doing those things or being bigoted. positively, this is NOT the reality we live in (mostly). most voters do not adequately inform themselves. thus, some responsibility falls on the parties as well. neither worlds are 100% reality or 100% falsehood.
blame can be put on all parties. it is the voters’ faults. they should have known better. they should have been smart enough to do the research. but the DNC also knew they probably wouldn’t and still failed epically. they also get some blame. but yes, EVERYONE gets blame. voters don’t get to run off blamelessly.
No thanks. I’ll be mad at half of the country who want to destroy the lives of women, minorities, and hope lgbtq people commit suicide so they don’t have to see a gay person on tv or whatever. And if you’re the person who abstains from voting or thinks both sides are just as bad, then fuck you too! Plus the fact you think voter blaming is annoying makes me think you feel guilty about it.
To be clear the Biden/Harris campaigns were fucking terrible and awful and I get your point. But they were then times better then the “eating cats and dogs” campaign and I’m not going to pretend like the voters have no blame even if you guys are because maybe you are trump voters idk
I do but even if they aren’t perfect I still want them to win instead of making life in this country hell for so many. And again I can want the dem party to change and ultimately place blame on this country being bigoted and stupid af at the same time. I know we have to appeal to the idiots so I hope there’s ways ppl not as pissed at them as I am can do
true, you made a good point about the harris-walz campaign that i think was downvoted unfairly. they failed to do anything more than “vote for me because im not him.” key word here is campaign, not the biden-harris administration as mentioned by #5. biggest issue with the harris-walz campaign was appealing to the independent voter base. they did very little to appeal to such a broad demographic. as soon as the butler, PA trump rally unfolded, i firmly believe that was where trump won, sadly.
i don’t fully understand why some are saying “don’t blame the voters” when you clearly can both blame the voters while still pointing towards other things that also contributed (more or less so than the voting population). this rodeo happened once already from 2016-2020, and the voters who voted for him, both republican and independent, are surprised about this? “the end of war in the middle east” should be enough to prove that those who enabled his presidency both times fell for it yet again
I don’t either bro like these are nuanced issues 😭😭 like objectively the democrats had an awful campaign but Trumps was vocally evil and he has lied about almost everything. Kamala wouldn’t have been a good president but she at least carried herself with any semblance of respect for the constitution
100% agreed. kamala would’ve been digestible, at maximum. i don’t think she would’ve been very good, but some of the shit trump has done in office is just baffling. from the get go, he said that he would run for office in 2028, which clearly violates the 22nd amendment. i see homes with “2028 trump” flags and really wonder how someone could proudly hang that. voters, campaigns, the recency of biden’s admin (wasn’t bad, but wasn’t that good), and the surge of republican pride all contributed.
I’ve been contemplating how to argue your points, but I’ve realized the issue isn’t your points exactly, it’s where all of the blame is being pointed. To an extent it is the democrats fault themselves and you’re totally right, they should be ashamed. People are demanding accountability and nothing is being done. Equally to blame though is the voter who chose to allow the worst of two evils to prevail. It’s the difference between a potentially “meh” presidency and a march toward fascism that we
good point! biggest issue that plagued the vote last election cycle was recency effect. the economy wasn’t great during the biden admin (not really their fault, honestly it fell under circumstance), and there were a lot of issues that people were considering, especially immigration/border control. people see a bad economy, high gas prices, etc., and they won’t research why those things are happening, but just that the opposition is offering a “solution.” voters can be very easily persuaded.
