But what does being a “good community member” do against fascism, exactly?

You can’t fight fascism without solidarity with and support from your community. There’s a reason authoritarians always try to limit free speech and turn the people against each other.

But fascists also build communities. They don’t just go around acting like cartoon bullies all the time.

No, fascists don’t build supportive and resilient communities.

So, all of those far-right militias aren’t communities?

they’re built on a fundamental layer of loyalty through fear, that’s the distinction here. 4 is absolutely correct, those are not resilient or supportive communities, if we want to classify them as such.

what you posted, OP, is only a part of combatting fascism. that is the stuff we do to remember why we fight, but it is not the entirety of the fight itself if that makes sense

Some of those groups have existed for decades.

and they’re still built on loyalty through fear and hatred of the perceived “other”

Fascists also make art, build communities, and aid those of their same alignment.

Because people treat fascists like a big boogeyman without actually treating them like they actually exist among communities.

so your entire argument is dismissing the ideological beliefs and impacts of fascism in an attempt to appeal to civility in defense of those who willingly ascribe to fascist beliefs, despite their unwillingness to acknowledge the humanity of anyone they deem an “other”?

I’m not saying to appeal to civility. But people act like fascists don’t know how to covertly hide their systems though coded messaging.

Nobody is saying that dude. No one thinks that fascists are always open about their beliefs
