I hate the gambling industry in general but online gambling makes it so much worse. Casinos suck and are exploitative but at least they employ people, especially for impoverished tribes. And you can avoid them by just not going to the casino. Meanwhile online gambling is in your pocket and you are constantly bombarded with ads.

this is just the next flimsy trick the tech bros are pulling after nfts and crypto and whatever other bullshit. ai is 80% of the way there at an absolute minimum. some people invented cool stuff in silicon valley 20-30 years ago, somehow gave any techbro infinite goodwill and its just been slop and evil ever since

At the very least, get rid of online gambling. It’s a lot more surreal to lose 2.5k in a casino rather than on your couch. Also, Don Jr. is the head of one of them so I don’t think it’s going anywhere until at least midterms if not 2028

Regulating online gambling is tricky when VPNs are highly available. If you outlaw online gambling in the US, addicts will just turn to sites operated elsewhere, which could be even more predatory. imo i’d like to see the advertising be banned on TV (and social media tbh) but allow the sites to keep operating so that current gambling addicts don’t have to turn to sketchy foreign sites.
