Israel is much more similar to Liberia tbh, where an oppressed diaspora shaped by their time in exile returned to their region of origin and repressed the people who never left. The main difference is time and that those who remained in Israel were culturally Arabized and became Palestinians.

actually, yeah i like this comparison. the only thing i’d add is that both colonial projects were sponsored and heavily financed by the west, (US and UK, with Sierra Leone instead of Liberia) to fulfill their larger imperial interests

I was also thinking about it and if we were to use this person’s Native American analogy, it’s like if the Cherokee from Oklahoma came and colonized the Cherokee who remained in North Carolina, justifying it by the North Carolina Cherokee being more assimilated.
