Anyone else burnt out by politics? I know its a bad thing to say but is anyone else feeling that way?

It’s really not healthy or productive to follow politics too closely. I only do it because I’m an addict. Actual activism is good for you, refreshing social media 24/7 just teaches you learned helplessness.

Burnt out following the insanity? Absolutely Bursting at the seams ready for things to finally change? Also absolutely

To say something a little different, I ended a friendship with someone who attacked my character for speaking ill of Trump, while they spouted GRT. For all I yearn to try for activism, the thing that has kept me sane is going back to school and being present for those around me. Stop and think about your surroundings. Think about how you are conducting a private life.

“Learned helplessness.” I am zeroing in on that phrase. Very good for when doomscrolling news and social media makes someone lost in the forest through the trees. It instills in people that nothing is being done, when in fact there are millions who feel called to action to fight back. You are not alone.

The changes we need, go past one person. There has to be willingness by millions of us to accept those changes as needing time and effort. And I realize the irony of this next part: remove some of your social media. It’s designed to be addicting and either reaffirm your beliefs or keep you paralyzed with dread.
