In this case, Pakistan. It makes me cringe so hard to say “Pak-uh-stan” when I know it’s actually “Pok-e-staan”

Hmm. For Iran and Iraq I say it with a mix of how it’s supposed to be pronounced and a standard American accent. Like “ee-rahn” (no r roll, a sounds kind of like in “mall” but not really, a bit higher). For Qatar, a few months ago, I started saying it just like how it’s supposed to natively be pronounced. I used to say “ka-TAAR” but switched, and Americanizing the proper pronunciation like “cutter” just sounds weird

For Pakistan I do “Pahk-ih-stahn” (“pak” rhymes with bawk like a chicken, “i” as in “igloo”, “stan” almost like “stomp”). But I’m not white, I’m Indian and lowkey look like I could plausibly be from any of these countries lmao
