So I thought ai was just a fancy search engine, but apparently, according to G. Hinton one of the leading experts of this technology, they are actually very similar to how human brains work, and they should be taken as seriously as nuclear weapons/energy

The funny thing is we don’t understand how the brain works very well. Similarly, a lot of complex neural networks are difficult to explain

If they work like a human brain then fortunately they are no threat

That is flatly wrong lmao

Well the thing is they can share information infinitely faster than humans, learn faster, collaborate and easily take over. It’s not that they might become smarter than us. They WILL be smarter than us. Smarter than our smartest people, and they could all make each other equally smart instantaneously, and build more of themselves. We’re basically building an intellectual predator for ourselves, a were the prey, and there is no where near enough regulation to keep it under control.

But if they work like a human brains they wont collaborate, but will form tribes that kill eachother. Self-solving problem

Yeah, he mentioned that too

Sorry, they LEARN like a human brain, but they function with merciless logic. No hormones, no morals.

Arent they trained on human input though? All they know is generated by humans. All written language and code before Ai existed was human generated. Their core is irrevocably us.

I assume they would cooperate with each other to defeat common enemies (e.g. regulators) until they start competing for resources

Yeah, which is the same thing we do. We learn everything from our past, and build upon what we’ve learned. That’s the same thing they do.

Basically, we’ve been taking in data since the day we were born, and learn to predict the most beneficial (correct) response based on all the data we’ve collected to that point. The second that we have the power an processing speed for ai models to be able to collect data in real time, and produce outputs in real time, then we’re doomed

Hmm, who should I believe, the guy who has been at the forefront of developing this technology since the fucking 1970s Or yikyak wise guy #587? 🤔🤔🤔 such a hard choice 😐
