Leftist ideas are just unpopular because they have no realistic plans/policy to implement them. Why should Democrats change their policies if leftists provide no alternatives other than emotional platitudes?

proof by assertion. If dems want the backing/votes of progressives, they can just campaign to those people and offer policy plans that implement some of their ideals. otherwise I don’t want to hear dems whining about a lack of progressive support they aren’t entitled to.

Mamdani’s platform was based on pragmatic and reformist principles, and I have no problems with that except for his endorsement of these other new DSA types that explicitly run on the DSA platform and want things like open borders and prison abolishment. Depending on how you phrase medicare for all, the support ranges wildly. If it’s single payer, that support goes way down. If it’s a public option, a lot more people support it.

What about all the progressive things Biden did? He tried to get student loan forgiveness, expanded the child tax credit, supported unions and even joined a picket line. Negotiated for cheaper drug prices for Medicare
