Imma keep it real with y’all I am not voting for Gavin Newsom and idgaf if that means JD Vance is the next president. We’ve got two years as the base of the Democratic Party to vocalize this and get behind a candidate like AOC.

If Gavin Newsom is the Democratic nominee it’s legit out of my hands and my vote will do nothing. He won’t win a general election, he won’t be able to pull enough votes, and we will get President JD Vance by default. Not because JD Vance will win over more people, but because a decent portion of the Democratic base will not back Gavin. You cannot run a candidate that doesn’t represent the interests of the base. That’s exactly why Kamala failed.

I don’t believe this to be true and either way calling it quits now is effectively giving up on the nation. You should care about the next admin and work for it

You’re not understanding what I’m saying. If the Democratic Party continues to shift to the right, there is no longer a meaningful difference between them. There is no incentive to keep Republicans out of power. If Democrats continue allowing them to move the goalposts and offer bipartisan support for deeply unpopular policies (War with Iran, Blockading Cuba, Arms to Israel, Immigration, Mass Surveillance, Tax Breaks for Billionaires, etc) then the apathy among both the Democratic Base grows

as well as the apathy of the American people. People already feel frustrated and disillusioned with electoral politics. You say America won’t survive another 4-8 years of a Republican Administration, I say America won’t survive another 4-8 years of Democratic Failures and Filibustering.

If this was 2012 this argument would be convincing. But 2 key issues the democrats have moved left on the major issues in the last 20 years the base has moved left and the country has generally moved left. Second issue is the opposition is far more right wing then ever before and we can’t allow for it to hold power

No, the Democratic Party hasn’t moved left in any meaningful ways at all. The Democratic BASE has shifted left. Which is why their approval ratings are in the shitter despite the Trump Admins approval ratings being under water. The Party’s actions and words are not matching up with the base’s.

What the fuck are you talking about? Obama’s initial platform was LEAGUES ahead of where the Democratic Party is now lmaooo in 2016 Obama was threatening to cut public funding for schools should trans kids not be permitted to use the bathroom and we nearly got a public option included with the ACA before a moderate Democrat shithead nuked it.

Even Republicans were further to the left in 2016. Trump said trans people should be able to use whatever bathrooms they wanted and was holding up pride flags at his rally’s 😭

This is a fundamental misunderstanding of Obama and the end of the bush era. Their was almost no progressive influence in the party after 2010 the majority of the super majority that made up the 2008 where conservative dems from the Midwest and south who were basically John McCain. The progressive movement was basically dead until 2016 and saw no real life until 2018

That’s not any real policy win for theese community trump still stacked his admin with social cons and worked to roll back Obama era protections of lgbt rights

You’re so close to the point. The reason progressives thinned out and Bernie revitalized them is because of the party’s shift towards the right. Obama capitulated on a lot of his initial promises and people felt let down.

Correct and rather than defending the rights of trans people Democrats allowed a nation wide smear campaign to spread with absolutely zero push back, then blamed said trans people for their poor approval ratings lol

The Obama 2008 campaign was not as progressive as your selling. The progressive left was really dormant from the end of the Clinton years. Until 2016/2018

This is odd logic because it presumes it’s the party’s problem to both defend and pass policy and also create good pr for the trans community even if that means eating bad or on issues where the optics are bad.

This is why liberals lose to fascism. Apparently you are only concerned about “optics” when it concerns the rights of minorities but never on immigration, foreign policy, the economy, etc. Democrats refusal to push back on these things and allowing Republicans to control the narrative is why they lost ground.

Optics are the core to politics you do not get to do left wing political action and reform if you can’t win elections or control optics. Their are plenty of issues where it’s fine to take the unpopular end of the stick because you believe it’s right but if you take that end then also get attacked for not being strong enough of the issue it creates disinterest

Literally all Democrats have to do is say “trans people deserve rights and are less than 1% of the population, undocumented migrants contribute to society and make up less than 5% of the population. let’s talk about the real issues facing Americans” and watch as conservatives make fools of themselves ranting about undocumented trans migrant surgeries while being outflanked on the economy.

You know the political issues with the trans community are Kids And hormones Gender identity and bathrooms Sports facilities and Gender you need answers on THEESE issues to counteract the negatives and if democrats try and move to where the public is they get destroyed by the activist class

No you don’t bruh you don’t have to engage with this conversation at all because it’s a non fucking issue. The response is SO incredibly simple. “These aren’t issues Americans worry about, I’d instead like to talk about healthcare costs and rent caps.” you are legit everything wrong the Democratic Party dawg. Keep talking about “cultural normalcy” and pronouns tho, I’m sure pandering to conservatives some more will really work out for you. Enjoy Palantir Shadow President JD Vance.

We know trumps most effective ads in the election where the Kamala is for they them not you. It’s one the few issues central to nearly ever Republican ad since 2022. You need a counter to culture war issues

The counter should be to redirect the conversation towards issues that actually fucking matter. Mandani did it his entire campaign and still does it now. Notice how he’s never being asked about trans kids, despite the fact that he openly campaigned on protecting the trans community and creating resources to protect them? That’s because it makes you look ridiculous to ask about culture war shit when your actual platform is focused on improving the material conditions of Americans.
