As someone who’s left-leaning, why don’t leftists show support for Indians the way they do Arabs, Africans, Latinos, Muslims, LGBTQ, etc? It seems like we’re portrayed as demons by the right and avaricious regressive people by the left.

I’ve noticed this lately and it concerns me a bit

I’m Indian and this makes no sense. I don’t see any anti-Indian sentiment in left-leaning spaces and the reason there’s no “support” is because the racism we face is mostly online and compared to other groups, we don’t have to deal with as much real world and systematic discrimination and oppression.

Apparently there’s a side of Marxist TikTok that’s pretty anti-Asian for some reason

For other communities, it’s unconditional solidarity but when it comes to us, we have to disavow ourselves before we get support and even then we may not receive the same support

“Mostly online” tell that to a 50 year old Indian man beheaded in front of his family. Tell that to Kiran Patel who got shot outside a gas station. A 6 year old girl was sexually assaulted with a bike in Ireland for being an Indian.

Also idc if we’re not “as oppressed” oppression Olympics is dumb and we deserve unconditional support because human rights isn’t a zero sum game

The stuff that’s “mostly online” starts to venture into real world territory when prominent people start saying it

People do support us dumbass. It’s not “oppression Olympics” the reality is that black people deal with far worse than us, and there’s more discussion to be had there, especially when the oppression is systematic. Just because you see less talk online doesn’t mean people don’t support us, stop trying to be a victim.

Omg you’re not getting it. No one’s denying the discrimination others face but the fact is anti-Indian discrimination is real and it’s harming people and not just online like you said. No need to call me names just cause you don’t understand what I’m saying. It’s not called being a victim, it’s asking that people speak out against all forms of racism

Progressives like you are exactly what I’m talking about, as soon as I mention Indians facing racism you need to bring up that other groups have it worse and therefore we’re just victims

I don’t think they’re trying to be a victim. It’s a question that does need to be discussed. There’s less support from the left for Asian victims of hate (see 2020, for example) compared to others

This really does seem to happen for East Asians, SE Asians, and South Asians

Thank you. It’s weird when other leftists are saying that Indians don’t receive enough support because they haven’t been systematically oppressed like are we supposed to let it get to that point before we give af??
