I have been studying and reading books about the road to how WW1 started in more in depth. The German Empire actually was responsible (at least as much as Austria and Serbia) for starting the war if you look into it. The Kaiser was also very Trump-esque.

actually I used to be one of those history nerds that thought the German Empire actually wasn’t that bad compared to the other great powers… but upon reading more information, I changed my mind again. Germany definitely was the aggressor, perhaps even more so than Austria and Russia combined.

Germany wanted that war for a long time. They even had plan drawn up for it years in advance called the Schlieffen Plan. Sure the treaty terms hurt but they were coming back from it til the Depression started. That was where the real pain happened

I think you would like the book, “On a Knife’s Edge” it goes into how the Germans lost the 1st world war. And one those key points is their willingness for war with the entente.
