its jarring. and im from east texas. i went to ole miss for ONE semester, sight unseen, had never been until move in. the drive there…oh my god. and then being black and going to ole miss? my roommate would invite me out to bonfires and shit and i refused to go. some ppl say its still the 1960s there, but i dont think theyve evolved past reconstruction. i transferred to duke that next semester😭
