Had an old high school friend come back from army deployment of 4 years the other day, he said “most of the guys in my platoon were there because they couldn’t afford healthcare or college back home” and now I’m like damn this is all abt recruitment huh

Like ig im dumb but like connecting the dots of giving reduced cost healthcare or college tuition would mean a ~10-20% drop in recruitment and that would cripple the military industrial complex so fast

The military unfortunately remains the only effective way for many to get out of poverty. It’s def by design.!
